Jan Richardson is coming back! Jan Richardson, Ph.D., is an author, education consultant, reading specialist, former Reading Recovery® Teacher Leader, and former classroom teacher (K-college). Often called America's leading expert in guided reading! Dr. Richardson continues to work with children and provides customized professional development designed to equip teachers with practical and effective techniques for strengthening reading instruction. Her goal is for every student to become a better reader who just can't wait to read another book!
Jan is joining us once again, but this time she is focusing on word study for P-3! Jan will show us how to take the next step in differentiating phonics instruction by teaching word study during small-group guided reading lessons. She will show us how a short, targeted activity designed to address each student's needs will not only teach students the skills they are ready to learn, but also provide opportunities for them to transfer those skills to reading and writing. This session will examine a wide-range of guided word study activities you can use with pre A, emergent, early, and transitional readers.
