A6/B6 Full Day Film and Video with Shelly Thompson

Workshop Capacity: 25

Today’s students are never off their phones, and spend their lives chronicling their lives. As a teaching tool, phones with all their distractions may seem irritating, but are invaluable. Youngsters can learn the value of story, the impact of image, and the overarching theory of editing with the relatively simple practice of conceiving, outlining, shooting and editing a short film, using only their phones. This full day workshop will take teachers through all of the steps: Conception to Creation around making short films using the technology in students' hands everyday.

A7/B7 FULL DAY Dance 11 Exploring Hip Hop Dance   Ithandi Munro

Workshop Capacity: 25

This full day workshop will explore the roots of Hip Hop choreography, including the basics as well as exercises to do with classes that develop a fully choreographed Hip Hop Dance number.

Bio: I’thandi Munro is a mixed Afro-Euro L’nu Professional performance and Visual artist living in K’jipuktuk, Miꞌkmaꞌki, the unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. As a racialized person living in a postcolonial environment, Munro uses the representation of line and of lineage as the underlying concepts through her fine art, craft, and dance. Often merging mediums into finished pieces there is always a sense of multiness within her work. Melding notions of the digital within her craft Munro continuously seeks to learn new ways of making. They leave space for her pieces to naturally evolve through reaction and discussion. This creates an ever changing flux body of work that can be continued, explored, and realized in many different ways. Munro is a parent of two young children, which often influences their work and is at the chore of their creativity.
