Intersectionality and Inquiry in English Language Arts
The 2022 ATENS conference will be a hybrid conference located at the Dr. Tom Parker Building and virtually.
ATENS is inviting teachers of the newer Grades 7 and 8 ELA curriculum to attend in person so that they may have an opportunity to learn and collaborate with one another on best practices moving forward. Please note that ATENS is still open to English Language Arts at all grade levels who wish to join the conference virtually.
When registering for this conference, individuals will have the option to select either “In Person” or “Virtual”. Once the capacity has been reached the option to attend “In Person” will no longer be available.
Delegates who select “Virtual” will receive login information for the conference via email following the close of registration.
Registration will open at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022
Registration closes at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022

As per NSTU Operational Procedure 14 E. IV.: receipts of payment and attendance will not be distributed until the conference has concluded.

Keynote
Trevor MacKenzie, Author of “Dive into Inquiry: Amplify Learning and Empower Student Voice”
Trevor MacKenzie is an experienced teacher, author, keynote speaker and inquiry consultant who has worked in schools throughout Australia, Asia, North America, South Africa and Europe. Trevor’s passion is supporting schools in implementing inquiry-based learning practices. He is a highly regarded speaker known for his heartfelt storytelling, kind demeanour, and student-first philosophy.
Trevor’s graduate research focused on identifying and removing the barriers to implementing inquiry-based learning in the K-12 setting. He is an inquiry practitioner currently as a teacher with the Greater Victoria School District in Victoria, Canada. He has two publications: Dive into Inquiry and Inquiry Mindset, both published by Elevate Books Edu. He has vast experience supporting schools across several years in implementation strategies in public schools, international schools, and International Baccalaureate programmes (PYP/MYP/DP).
